July 2005 VTAACC Minutes

Introduce New Attendees

  • Brian Alba & Lori Goad

Habitat for Humanity Wrap-Up/ Community Service

  • We had 13 people volunteer on June 11th. Next year we would like to do a lighter work load to hopefully encourage more people to volunteer.
  • John is waiting on a confirmed date for Operation Christmas Child, which Lauren will be handling.
  • Suzanne is going to start looking into the Avon Walk for the spring.

Fund Raising Update (New Ideas)

  • We discussed new ideas since Panthers concessions are not going to work out. Jon has initiated contact with Wachovia to express our interest in participating in the 2006 Wachovia Championship.

Scholarship Update

Scholarships were awarded to Christopher Chelko and Mary Baugh. Lori is going to work on getting some articles published in local media.

Bus Trips Update

  • The cost of the bus trips will be $50 per person and $65 after stated dates:
    • NC State 9/4 (leave at Noon) price increases 8/1
    • Duke 9/10 (leave at 7AM) price increases 8/8 (need to confirm dates w/Henry)
    • BC 10/27 (leave at 1PM) price increases 9/23
  • Henry is not going to be able to be on the Bus Trip to NC State or Duke. He will check with Hokie Club to see if they have someone, if not Craig may be able to go.

Social Update

  • Joint VA Alumni Event @ Dixies
    • We are planning on August 10th with a back-up date of August 24th
    • Josh is working on details.
  • South End Trolley Crawl/Dinner
    • We have decided to postpone this event to next June.
  • Fox & the Hound Football watchings
    • Official F&H sponsored “party” will be for WVU game on October 1st.
    • Shane is working on coordinating someone to organize the F&H Ballantyne location.

Timing of Mailers

  • Fall mailer (submitted August 12, arriving September 23rd) will include:
    • BBQ (10/15)
    • BC Bus Trip (10/27)
    • F&H Game Watchings
    • Beer Tasting (11/12)
    • Community Service
  • Winter mailer (submitted December 19th, arriving January 30th) will include:
    • Tea & Silent Auction (2/11) date change
    • Golf Tournament (4/14, 21, or 28) date not confirmed
  • Spring mailer (submitted February 3rd, arriving March 17th) will include:
    • Wachovia (5/ 2nd-8th)
    • Wine Tasting ( 5/20th)
    • Trolley Outing ( 6/3) tentative
    • Habitat (6/10) tentative

2005-2006 Chapter Goals/Annual Plan Review

  • Annual Plan has been updated.

2005-2006 Officers

  • Lori Goad will be our PR Chair/Database Manager. Suzanne Upton and Lauren Spahr will be Community Service Co-Chairs.
